It’s All In The Stats

It usually takes a “catalyst” for people to take their health seriously. That can happen at a regular dental check up. Hearing for the first time that you have periodontal disease. Disease?? How can bone loss be considered a disease? It is. It is chronic. Caused by bacteria and inflammation of the gum tissue. Much like diabetes or high blood pressure, this is a condition that can be stabilized but not cured.

This is where I come in. To educate and help you understand what is happening in your mouth and also your body.

If you like statistics and geek out on the science, read on.

The Cleveland Clinic states it like this: “Inflammation is a normal part of your body's response to injuries and invaders (like germs). It promotes healing and helps you feel better. But inflammation that happens when there's no injury or invader can harm healthy parts of your body and cause a range of chronic diseases.”

Some of those diseases caused by inflammation are:

*Autoimmune diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis

*Cardiovascular diseases, such as high blood pressure and heart disease

*Gastrointestinal disorders like inflammatory bowel disease, Crohn's disease, and ulcerative colitis

*Lung diseases, such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and asthma

*Mental illnesses, such as depression

*Metabolic diseases, such as Type 2 diabetes

*Neurodegenerative diseases, such as Parkinson’s disease

*Some cancers

To me, this is absolutely SHOCKING. Heart disease is the #1 killer in America. 695,000 people die EACH YEAR . It has been ranked the #1 cause of death since the 1950’s.

Heart disease is the most preventable cause of death. How? By reducing overall inflammation. Simple exercise and nutrition can turn this around.

My hope is that you are starting to see the connection also.

At the end of the day…

Sync Health came about to pioneer this integrative approach within the dental industry, aspiring to be present in periodontal and oral surgery offices nationwide. My goal is to provide a different approach that is encouraging, and actionable.  Support that drives real, positive change. I invite you to take the step to become better.
